HORMANSHIP BADGES – American Heritage Girls

Editor on Jun 21st 2010

Saturday June 19th ACI and Home, Horse & Hound  sponsored the American Heritage Girls in Loudoun County.  The group came to our horse barn, owned by Patty & Randy Iacone and had an information, fun-filled day.  The day started at 10:30am and ended at 2:30pm.  The girls learned about the history of the horse, different breeds, colors, markings, nutrition, some clinical & the different types  of horse tack.  They watched a horse load into a trailer and how to mount and dismount.  They cleaned stalls and groomed the horses.     The day ended with a raffle.  The prizes included a private riding lesson at the JBit Randy in Berryville.

What a wonderful day for the girls and the horses!

EPABEFORE YOU START TO RENOVATE – BE SURE YOUR CONTACTOR IS “LEAD CERTIFIED” it’s Federal law!

As of April 2010 Federal law requires that homeowners receive an EPA lead pamphlet before renovating six square feet or more of painted surfaces in a room for interior projects or more than twenty square feet of painted surfaces for exterior projects in your home, if it was built before 1978.

Ask your contractor for a copy of his “Lead Certification” certificate prior your home renovation.  AND, be sure to have your contractor give you the brochure on Lead safe practices.

The entire room only cost $219. for materials.

On March 13, 2010 at the Restore in Purcellville a “Redesign on a Dime” event took place.  Ten local designers created a 10×10 space using materials from the restore.  Each space was unique with it’s own theme.  From a wine parlor, to a european sitting room, to a front foyer, to a baby nursery, it was amazing how the designers were able to reuse/restore/recycle!   The Restore will be hosting another event…stay tuned!
