Some ideas and products are new and some are already being used.  Their growth and acceptance in the market have been the main indicators that has consolidated these changes as a trend. More and more are used by builders, remodelers, interior designers, decorators, and manufacturers.

Although vital colors will be included more and more in 2020-2021 trend period, the triumph of the dark decor in the interior will reflect the future choices of kitchen colors. Characteristic of the next period will be the introduction of colorful combinations of clear and monochrome tones and the diminished use of wood decors and finishes, which are only used discreetly.

  • OPEN CONCEPT - Designers and Remodelers continue to create open concept kitchens in large and small spaced footprints.
  • KITCHEN ISLANDS – A single island is attractive and efficient, however, if space allows two islands are in for 2020!
  • CABINETRY: Black has become the new white!   Black cabinets, white cabinets, two toned cabinets are good choices.
  • COUNTERTOPS – There is a large selection when it comes to countertops. Quartz is more durable than granite and is comparable in cost.  Laminate, tile, granite, butcher block, recycled glass, Silestone, Wilsonart are other options to name a few.
  • SINKS – Copper, granite & quartz are favored.
  • FAUCETS – Single handle faucets in chrome, brass & matt black. It’s OK to mix metal in 2020.
  • APPLIANCES – While Stainless Steel remains number one, black stainless and the new Champagne stainless are
  • BACKSPLASHES - Backsplashes that climb the wall! Creative designs and popping colored backsplashes make for an awesome focal point in any type kitchen.
  • FLOORING – Hardwood continues to be a good choice for kitchens, while new luxury vinyl offers a water resistant kitchen in many colors!
  • LIGHTING - Under cabinet lighting on a dimmer switch, recessed lights and pendants lights strategically placed is key!
  • HARDWARE - Brass, glass & copper hardware for 2020. Hardware is the jewelry in the  kitchen and should be carefully selected for that finishing touch!

A kitchen renovation is a big investment. Today’s master bath should be a place of luxury and convenience.  Achieving this is a matter of keeping up with the latest and greatest design elements.

Whether your bathroom remodel needs a few updates or a complete remodel, keeping the space up to snuff is one of the best investments you can make in your home, and 2020 is all about seamlessness, functionality and bold accents.

If you've been contemplating that bath renovation for a while now, it's time to take the next step. 2020 brings with it a mixture of new design ideas.  Some older styles that have been around for a decade (hello, wall-to-wall mirrors) are being replaced with new, fresh, and fun ideas.  Make an appointment with Randy Iacone, CKBR, our Certified Bath Remodeler and designer and allow him to work up a design to fit your lifestyle and bring function and beauty to our bathroom.

You may want to consider these for your next renovation:

  • COLORS-Gray has made its comeback... Vintage designs use gray as a background color. Due to its neutral shade, it serves well for highlighting the antique decor and not drive attention into the background. Black is back - Older generation designers believed that white on white bathroom designs were the best solutions for this room. However, the modern take on bathroom trends in 2020 with the twist of black on black design catches the eye in the most pleasing way.   Green, navy, turquoise, yellow and millennial pink (yes I said pink) are the fun colors for 2020! AND…they all look great with gray!
  • VANITIES -Traditional vanities continue to be a good choice and there are many to choose from, however, if you are considering a more modern or contemporary bathroom, a piece of furniture as opposed to a vanity may be the solution. The faucet can be either mounted on the top of the furniture piece or mounted to the wall. A vessel sink works well with this design option.
  • BATHTUBS- The heart of the bathroom! Clawfoot tubs and stand alone tubs are the leading selection in 2020.  There are many styles to choose from and a wide price range.
  • TILE - Small tiles, mosaic type, are back!  Tiny 2x2” tile with creative patterns are layed on shower pan floors and now walls!  Subway tile remains very popular installed in the standard brick pattern, but also herring bone and vertical patterns which give it an exciting visual appearance.    Geometric patterned tiles may have been very popular in recent years, but it turns to plain and basic tiles, but with a creative touch. For example, a spike design adds a dose of elegant appeal.
  • LUXURY VINYL – Luxury Vinyl Tile has worked it’s way into the bathroom. This product has come a long way in appearance and is another option for bath floors and walls!
  • MARBLE – Projecting ahead - the year 2021 will be marked by the return of marble. The colors will be white, gray, red. Seamless fluid lines and space layout will be practical and simple, but with a touch of organic and elegant comfort.

Certified Remodelers require a demonstrated level of professionalism before candidates can even take the certification exam.  A fully qualified professional is skilled at assessing consumers individual needs and wants and creating designs that meet and exceed these requirements.

While bathroom remodeling offers many benefits, it can be a surprisingly complicated endeavor, which is why a successful result depends on a careful approach.  Preliminary details are critical prior any work begins for a successful remodel.  Flushing out potential problems ahead of time can save homeowners time and money!

The MCR designation recognizes Certified Remodelers that have demonstrated commitment to the remodeling industry through support of their local chapter, NARI National, and/or their local community. The MCR identifies Certified Remodelers that have withstood the test of time and continue to be successful within the industry.

It is easy to look at the cost of hiring a general contractor and think only of labor and materials. But remember that a professional general contractor offers you an important service - years of experience, the right tools and a large network of resources, knowledge of current county codes, cost estimating, scheduling, and the latest construction techniques and materials.  Hiring a Master Certified Remodeler will give you peace of mind during the building process.
